Best Answer

Special pelletised foods for Axolotls are available in good pet/aquarium shops. They do however appreciate live foods such as crickets, meal worms etc. now and then. They will also take trimmed lean raw meat cut into small enough sizes. Never leave uneaten meat in the tank with any living fish or axolotles etc. (I remove uneaten food after 15mins) It will poison the water very rapidly and kill the occupants if left in the water.

Can axolotol fish live in the same tank as other fish?

Yes, but its Likely the axolotls would eat the fish. 1. Axolotls are salamanders, not fish. 2. There are many species of fish that would do fine with an axolotyl, and others would be considered a good meal. 3. Axolotls need cold, fresh, well oxygenated water, so tropical fish would not be appropriate.

Do axolotls migrate?

It depends. Axolotls can be kept with other axolotls AS ADULTS, and in fact prefer it due to the fact they are very social. When they are not adults, however, they will kill each other when kwpt with each other. There is a simple rule of thumb for axolotls: since they are at the top of their natural food chain, If something moves and is smaller than its head, you can bet an axolotl can and will eat it. Also note that some fish (especially cichlids) may nibble on the axolotls gills if kept with them and hurt them alot, so keep kind fish like mollies and guppies with them.
