They eat the same as any other rabbit: pellets as the main part of their diet with unlimited hay and greens/treats can be given occasionally. For show and brood rabbits, it is often necessary to feed limited amounts of pellet feed. This is to ensure that the dwarf does not become overweight. Pets dwarfs can be free-fed, but again, to have a healthier rabbit a healthy diet amount is recommended.

Dutch bunnies make great pets, I have one and she has a great personalty. My dutch bunnie can swim and do all sorts of funny stuff. When my rabbit gets mad she will thump her feet. When she is hungry she will bang her food dishes together, she will do this when she hears me walk into the room or in the morning when I wake up. My rabbit also runs and does these funny little jumps in the air and buzzes her nose when she is happy. She also is very cuddly and sometimes she even licks your face. My rabbit is trained very well, if I let her out to play around she will jump back into her cage and go in her litter box and go to the bathroom, instead of going on my carpet. My rabbit is like this because I spend a lot of time with her. I don't train her at all I treat her nicely and give her lots of attention, I also sometimes give her treats when she does something good. If you decide to get a dutch bunnie I suggest that you get one from an animal selter, such as the SPCA. Thats were I got mine. Hope this helps.

Another person wrote, in response: Carrots are quite sugary actually, they should be considered a treat only -- assuming your rabbit is healthy, a bite or two every couple days should be okay, but no more. Potato really is not recommended, and many parts of the potato are actually toxic for rabbits. Rabbits are not garbage disposals, do not feed them your trimmings (exception: carrot greens and radish greens -- in nice, bright green, fresh condition -- are LOVED by rabbits and very healthy, so these are the one case you give "garbage" to a rabbit).

You could eat a Dutch rabbit, but why? They would have a fairly high bone to meat ratio, and IMO wouldn't be worth the effort. Leave the Dutch breed to the show and pet people and try a good meat breed - The Californian.
