Best Answer

Any amount of onions is not good for a dog. Onions contain sulfides, which cause anaemia. Even foods which contain some onion can cause illness.

If you believe your dog has eaten a large amount of onion, or it is beginning to look quite unwell, contact or visit your vet.

It will depend on the size of the dog and the amount of onion ingested.

Onions contain sulfides, which cause the breakdown of red blood cells - leading to anaemia. If enough onion is eaten, a dog could become seriously ill and require a blood transfusion.

It might be possible that that a dog could die if it ate a large amount of onion and was not taken to a vet when symptoms arose.
