Bee milk is another name for royal jelly, a secretion from the hypo-pharyngeal
glands of young worker bees which is used to feed all larvae in the colony, including those destined to become worker bees or drones.
Larvae are also fed pollen mixed with a little honey, except for a larva chosen to become a queen which is fed exclusively on large quantities of royal jelly for the first four days of its development. This triggers it to develop into a queen.
