if it has stopped purring and meowing then you should go to the vet because it is probably DEAD
actually you are wrong about it being dead. Because my cat who is about a year old has not purred or meowed in about 6-7 months. My oldest nephew ran through a door thge cat was on thge other side and it smacked her in the face hard enough to where she was bleeding really bad. Made a few vet trips and she is fine today, the only thing is she is now more skittish, shows mild aggression towards children so we keep my 3 yr. old away from her and her isolated from children but she plays with the other cat here and after almost a year is becoming a little bit more sociable. Just because a cat is not meowing or purring does not mean it is dead. I think my cayt stopped purring because of her tramatic incident, anything is possible. If it is a big concern Iwould suggest looking at what the cat has been through, and/or talking to your veterinarian. She might be able to help.

The phrase "purr" in "The cat said 'purr'" is an example of onomatopoeia because it imitates the sound that a cat makes. Alliteration refers to the repetition of initial consonant sounds in neighboring words, which is not present in this example.
Cats from the big cat family, such as lions, tigers, and leopards, do not generally purr like domestic cats. These big cats are capable of roaring instead of purring due to differences in their anatomy and vocal capabilities.
yes. as cats purr, they use their mind to bassically hypnotize you so that you feel more tired. of course it is not real hypnotism but you will always notice that after petting a purring cat you will feel tierd and lethargic.
It isn't very relaxed
There is no illness that causes a cat to purr. Cats purr when they are happy, content, and socialized. This includes non domesticated cats.
