You may need a longer litter box. I bought just a plain plastic one at a hardware store or places like Walmart or Zellers. Then use clumping kitty litter and be sure to clean out the kitty litter box every day with a slotted scooper and bag it and throw it in the garbage. Many cats don't like dirty litter boxes and I own one! LOL
Answer
Sometimes the cats just get impatient and want to get over with bathroom and get out there and play. I've even heard of a case where the owner bought the big litter box with cover over it so the kitty litter won't be everywhere on the floor. The cat simply just poked his head in, pretended that he's "inside" and pooped outside. So it's really your kitty thinking to itself "oh, I'm relieved" and thinking it's the right place. After all, the front half is in! -_-;;; My cat was getting bigger and his left foot was hanging out of the litter box (he wouldn't go all the way in), and sometimes the peed half in and half out of the box. These things happen. That's why I got top-entry litter box! He can't just pretend to be inside or not. He has to go inside to see the litter. If your cat continues to pee outside the box even with this box, then it's behavioral problem (your cat just doesn't want to go to litter box to pee) rather than litter box problem.
Simply get a litter box with taller sides.
you could get a dome litter box, one with a lid. then the cat's pee would hit the side of the box instead of going outside of it.
A cat mat is used to keep the cat litter box area clean. A cat mat is placed under the litter box so that if any litter gets out of the litter box, it goes on the cat mat instead of the floor.
Cats will poop on the floor if you do not train them to. If you train your cat, and it still poops on the floor, spray him/her will a spray bottle filled with water, and if they do not stop either way, they were raised the wrong way, and you will have to put down something on the floor that is noisy when you step on it, on the place they go to the bathroom.
If your cat is having trouble finding their litter box, it may indicate a health issue or underlying problem with the litter box location or cleanliness. It is advisable to consult a veterinarian to rule out any medical concerns and to evaluate the litter box setup to ensure it is accessible and appealing to your cat.
A cat pooping outside the litter box might be due to a change in the cat's routine but it's probably best to take him to the vet to rule out any health issues.
you have to train your cat that its not a good thing to pee on the floor, 1.scold and punish it when it pees on the floor 2.reward and praise it when it uses the litter box this tells your cat that using the litter box is a good thing and peeing on the floor is a bad thing.
