I am so sorry to hear this. It's heart breaking. Just like humans it's normal for your mama dog to grieve, but not healthy if it goes on for weeks. There are two things you can do:

  • Give her a little more time to grieve. Take her for walks and spend more time with her. This may work, but each dog has it's own personality.
  • Get a puppy! I did once and it worked like a charm. You can phone different shelters and see if they have puppies to adopt who still need to nurse and if they don't, then get a 6 - 8 week old puppy. I have no doubt your dear mama dog will take to that pup like a bee to honey.

How do you register unborn puppies?

Unborn puppies cannot be registered until they are born. Once they are born, you can register them with a recognized kennel club or breed registry by providing the necessary documentation, such as the parents' pedigrees and litter information. It's important to follow the specific registration guidelines of the organization you choose.

I am about to buy a German shepherd puppy and the breeder just told me that their were only two puppies born in the litter ... is this a bad sign will the puppies be healthy is this normal?

It's not necessarily a bad sign if there were only two puppies in the litter. Sometimes litters can be smaller in size. As long as the breeder has taken proper care of the puppies and the parents have been health tested, the puppies should be healthy. Make sure to ask the breeder for details about the health and upbringing of both the puppies and the parents.

The mother dog just ate one of her dead puppies is it ok for her to nurse the other puppies?

It is not recommended for the mother dog to nurse her other puppies after consuming a dead puppy. This can lead to health risks for the remaining puppies, such as infection or toxicity. It is best to consult a veterinarian for guidance in this situation.

Why puppies like bite so much?

Puppies explore the world with their mouths, similar to how human babies do with their hands. They use their mouths to learn about their environment, especially when they are teething and looking for relief from the discomfort. It's important to train puppies on bite inhibition and provide appropriate chew toys to redirect their biting behavior.
