The uterus, also known as the womb, is a muscular, hollow organ in the female reproductive system. Its primary function is to nurture and house a developing fetus during pregnancy. The uterus also plays a key role in the menstrual cycle, shedding its lining when pregnancy does not occur. Additionally, it facilitates the passage of sperm and the menstrual flow.
