Ribosomes are the organelle in the cell that proteins are made in. There are two types of ribosome: bound and free.
they make proteins from amino acids
the ribosome makes proteins from amino acid
A ribosome is a minute round particle composed of RNA and protein that is found in the cytoplasm of living cells and serves as the site of assembly for polypeptides encoded by messenger RNA. everything you usually eat are composed by ribosomes in it's essence (except of course a macdonald's hamburger although it's edibility it's not proven to contain any kind of DNA, RNA or proteins )
Yes, ribosomes are composed of special proteins and nucleic acids. Each complete ribosome is constructed from two sub-units.A eukaryotic ribosome is composed of nucleic acids and about 80 proteins and has a molecular mass of about 4,200,000 Da.
70S refers to the rate of sedimentation of the ribosome in a centrifuge. You can almost think of it as a unit of size. The "S" is a unit of measurement called the Svedberg unit. Ribosomes contain two subunits. In prokaryotes, these subunits are 50S (large) and 30S (small). The total ribosome with both subunits is 70S in prokaryotes. (Notice that 30 + 50 = 80 and not 70. Remember this is not size and the rate of sedimentation is less when the subunits are bound then when they are separated.) Eukaryotic cells have 80S ribosomes: 60S (large) and 40S (small) subunits.
In translation (RNA to Protein) a ribosome attaches to an mRNA strand and uses the mRNA to create a protein. There are other types of RNA and protein that can modify the mRNA strand but ribosomes are the main structure involved in translation.
