A chimaera is a deep sea cartilaginous fish related to sharks. In mythology, the chimera is an offspring of a wood nymph-black snake named Echidna and the fire breathing titan Typhon. It had the head of a lion and goat and the tail of the creature was a snake with a head. It breathed fire. Bellephoron rode the flying horse Pegasus and killed the Chimera by putting lead on a stick down it's throat(s) and it melted into it's stomach and it died.
