Yes they do, most of the time anyway. They're the ones that mainly do the work when it comes to lions. The only thing the male cats do is defend the territory [which of what I've learned so far doesn't get disturbed that often],sleep for long periods of times and lay around doing nothing, getting females pregnant, and eating the juicy parts of the meal that the lionesses had just gotten tiring and worning themselves out from for the whole entire pride [meaning pack] to eat. Plus, on top of that all they have a huge nursery to feed, clean, and take care of. But sometimes they sneak huge bites when and if it's fresh meat before they take it to the rest. I learned that from Animal Planet.
lions hunt because they need to find prey so they can eat
Lions hunt in their prides, or groups. They stalk their prey while low to the ground. They like to hunt at night because the animals have a harder time seeing them, but lions actually see better at night. Lions hunt usually in their territory, where zebras and wildbeasts stay. The females hunt, while the males protect their territory. When lions hunt, the stay in the plains, practicly invisible, because of their camoflouged fur.
