Red ants clutch their prey with the pincher-like device on their head and sting with the stinger located at the tip of their abdomen. The pain is quite painful and can remain painful from minutes to several hours.

Red ants (fire ants) attack by anchoring themselves by biting the skin, and then stinging repeatedly.

They usually attack on mass and it is said that they swarm onto your skin and sting like fire!

Fire ant stings appear as groups of swollen red spots that develop a blister on the top. These stings hurt, itch.

Some unlucky people can have a dangerous allergic reaction to stings and need to seek immediate medical help.

Fire ant stings should be washed immediately with soap and water and the application of ice helps with the initial stinging sensation. The stings will eventually diminish over a period of a week or more.

If a queen ant bites you make sure you wrap something around it and go to the doctors and get it checked.

The question is "What happens" not "What do I do", and the answer is that you'll get a red mark where the bite is and if it's venomous there will be a burning sensation. If you are allergic to bee stings then YES you should go to the doctor, but only if you are allergic or have suspicions that you are allergic.

Being bitten causes numbness and a burn-like pain in the bite area, while the bite area and a short area around it will darken. But it will go away in time.

Do ant bites cause itching and irritation?

Yes they can,it's usually a white pimple with a little redness. It could also be just a white bump with redness. I have actually got bitten by a black ant and now it's just a white bump with redness around it. The good thing about getting bitten by a black ant is that their bites/ stings don't hurt as much as the red ant or fire ants bites/ stings.
