In most cases, nothing happens when your dog ingests pen ink. Because the ink from the pen is generally non-toxic and is found in such small amounts, your dog should be safe. You can always have a veterinarian examine the dog to be sure that he or she is healthy.

it actually would get sick if it was one of those big, fat sharpies but if it was a small one it will be ok.

Luxray8910 says: Actually, you are wrong up there ^^^. If a dog chews on a permanent marker, the marker is made with chemicals, and the dog could swallow those chemicals and get seriously sick, or maybe even poisoned. You should probably keep items containing chemicals or even processed with chemicals away from your pets, just for safety. :)
