A very simple and effective investment. For outside, use a water trough, not a bucket. You can get a 40 gallon water trough for about $30 or so. It's heavy enough that they can't tip it over. You can also use your imagination and get creative in order to save money. For instance, a 50 gallon barrel cut in half can serve as a water trough, just make sure that it's clean, not rusty and has no chemicals in it.
