A huge percent, more people are allergic to cats than dogs.:( 15-20% of the population, it could be even more considering more people have cats.
Cats are furry due to their coat of hair, which helps regulate body temperature, protect their skin, and provide sensory information. The fur also helps cats camouflage in their environment and aids in communication through body language, such as puffing up when threatened.
So many pure-bred dogs (dogs that are interbred with mother-son, mother-brother, to keep the breed 'pure') are fragile and are owned by people today, it's quite possible that some dogs could be allergic to other dogs. Also, there are so many hair care, skin care, and insect repellents on the market as well, some of these weaker dogs could be allergic to many things, including people.
