It is still a working church and very nice to visit. All the CA missions are working churches, have services, weddings, museums, gift shops, and gardens.
like most CA missions, the mission San Diego De Alcala supported itself by growing crops of wheat and corn. they also raised horses and cattle, and cultivated grapes in a vineyard. the mission maintained an economy based on local assets including things made by Native women such as: growing fruit on orchards and supplementary herds of sheep.
The animals in San Jose have a common mission to get to Madagascar. Their mission song is 'I like to move it', a 1994 music track performed by Reel 2 Real.
I know in the City of San Diego, or like me in El Cajon, you cannot have chickens . Now if you live in the County you can. We need to change the laws on this one.

What were the chores at the mission san diego
Like all the 21 California missions first built at the end of the 18th century, San Diego has been restored. Except for Santa Barbara, which was always maintained in use, most of the others, built of adobe bricks, were largely rebuilt along the original lines.
Like most California missions, the Mission San Diego de Alcala supported itself and the Native inhabitants of the area by growing crops of wheat and corn. They also raised herds of horses and cattle, and cultivated grapes in a vineyard. The mission maintained an economy that was based on local assets, including things made by the Native women, fruit grown in orchards, and supplementary herds of sheep. Ultimately the mission was not as successful as many of the other settlements. But in the mid 1700 there WA a blah blah land
=Christianity and Spanish ways of life (like all missions).=
its like way better than before... you actually have things tht you can make clothing with instead of using it by hand
awsome
All of the 21 missions treated Native Americans poorly. They were beaten, killed, and died of disease. Once they converted they weren't allowed to leave the mission. The soldiers stationed at the missions also raped the women. Today state historians have uncovered mass Native American graves on mission grounds.
