This could be either two things that I can think of:
Manticore - Has human parts, including a human's head, and the body of a lion. Some versions include a scorpion tail and dragon wings.
Chimera - A monstrous animal composed of body parts from various animals. Usually chimeras have multiple heads and tails, and an upper torso of one beast with the lower torso of another. Of course it varies.

Okay if you had a wolf and a malamute then you breed them, the child would be called a hybrid because it has two or more different kinds of dog breeds in it.
The offspring of different animals are known by different names- for example the oppsring of a Lion is called a cub, that of a cow is called a calf and so on.
