Toledo?

Toledo, Ohio, is an industrial city with a penchant for the arts. Named after Toledo, Spain, it offers an intriguing cityscape, bursting with hidden treasures at every turn. The city is home to the internationally renowned Toledo Museum of Art, housed in a Greek Revival building. Aside from exhibits that change from season to season, the museum also showcases an outdoor sculpture garden. The Collingwood Arts Center, on the other hand, houses exhibits and galleries of local artists. The center is housed in a former convent built in the Fleming Gothic architectural style. The museum and arts center are both located in the Old West End, a historic neighborhood considered to be "the largest neighborhood of late Victorian, Edwardian, and Arts & Crafts homes east of the Mississippi." The neighborhood was in a moribund condition in the 1960s, until its residents restored many of the buildings to their former glory. Today, it is famous for its festivities: the Spring Festival in June, the Garden Tour in September and the Tours de Noel festival held every December. While Toledo's famous attractions seem highbrow, it is still a bustling industrial city. And what respectable industrial town is without its local specialty of beer and hotdogs? The Maumee Bay Brewing Company, housed in the historical Oliver House building, is a favorite haunt of locals and serves fresh brews daily, including the popular Buckeye Beer. The famous Tony Packo's hotdogs were made popular in the 1970s by Jamie Farr's character in M.A.S.H. They are one of the best hotdogs in the United States, each packed with a special Packo sauce, onions and cheese. Sports are also big in Toledo. Residents are very proud of the Toledo Mud Hens, one of the first teams to play for the Minor Leagues. The Mud Hens consider the Fifth Third Field stadium as their home. Racing is also big in this city, which is home to the Raceway Park. This horseracing park is open daily and holds special harness races during the summer. If you want to unwind at the end of the day, head out to the International Park at dusk. Located at the Maumee River, the park offers a breathtaking view of Toledo at sunset. The park is home to the Willis B Boyer, an old lake freighter. In the evenings, the Veteran's Glass City Skyway is a site to see. This bridge features a glass-covered pylon, which is lit up by almost 400 LED bulbs. This rainbow of lights is visible three miles away. Toledo has a rich industrial economy, but it also has an equally rich culture. It leaves a beautiful and memorable impression to each of its visitors.
