Cats don't like Oranges and citrus fruits, they could stop them going on counters. Bladesmanshawey I use a squirt gun, a small water pistol that I bought for less than a dollar. I actually have three of them and keep them in places where I want to keep my cats off. Whenever they jump up on a counter or table that is off limits, I squirt them gently. They don't associate it with me because they don't understand where it is coming from and it is only a harmless minor distraction to them. OBTW, I try and not look at them as I'm doing it. That way they have less chance of associating the squirting water with me doing the squirting.
