A wild horse is one that has had absolutely no human contact from the time it was born to when it became an adult. A semi-wild horse is one that has had human contact at birth, but then escaped or ventured into the wilderness and learned to survive without human assistance. Often a semi-wild horse is easier to tame than one that is wild, be it in a feral state (like the Mustangs) or if it is truly wild, like the Przewalski Horse or a zebra.

It would typically be called a mustang or a bronc.

If it is partly tamed (meaning that it allows handling), the condition is called gentled or green-broke. Gentled more commonly signifies the process of getting a horse accustomed to a rider without bucking.

You can have a gentled and/or green-broke mustang.

Since broncs are horses that buck, it is called green-broke (not gentled).
