I have a guinea pig and personally I love them.
They have a lot of personality, and they make many noises that mean different things.
They are pretty easy to take care of, you only have to clean their cage once a week, and other than supplying them with food, water, and enough vitamin C they are very independent.
They are SO fun to play with, but they need a lot of space to run and play in.
