Answer: Apparently, a dog can die if it eats chocolate. Probably not from eating a drop of chocolate, but I don't know how much chocolate a particular sized dog would have to eat, to die.

Not only that, giving your dog very many grapes or raisins can cause massive and acute kidney failure. Fatty foods are also quite hard for your dog to digest and can overtax the pancreas, leading to sometimes fatal pancreaitis. Nuts have a high concentration of phosphorus which causes kidney stones in dogs. Onions, especially raw onions, have been shown to trigger hemolytic anemia in dogs. Xylitol -a sweetener in many products, especially sugarless gum and candies - in large amounts may cause a sudden drop in blood sugar in dogs, resulting depression, loss of coordination, and seizures. Coffee and Alcoholic Beverages are also a no.

Onions, potatoes, tomatoes (especially the green ones), garlic, leeks, chives, butter and grapes/raisins. Also, if your dog recently had pancreatitis, then fatty foods like cat food and peanut butter could be harmful. Many candies can be harmful too, like chocolate and gummies(because of xylitol, which can be VERY bad.) I understand some people may ahve given their dog that and nothing happened, but that could be they were not given a large amount. (Note although a dog food lists meat first, this does not mean that it is good quality dog food.) Make sure that following the meat there is no fillers.
