Could be a lot of things, most common causes are...
1. Hairball
2. S/he ate too much too fast (this happens a lot with my fat cat, he gorges then vomits undigested food)
3. S/he ate a plant or some other foreign material

is there actually material being vomited or is s/he dry heaving? If yes, is the material liquid (& what does the liquid look like?)?
How long has s/he been vomiting?
How frequently is s/he vomiting and is the material always the same?
Have you noticed any changes in his/her behavior? etc.
