Miaow is the onomatopoeic representation of the sound made by a cat.
To say "the cat purred" would be an example of onomatopoeia. A cat would normally say "miaow" or "prrrr".
The most familar are the meow (miaow), hiss, and purr. But they make lots of other distinct sounds such as screeches. (see the related question)
By purring and rubbing against you
Tigers make lots of sounds. They growl, snarl, roar, whoof, miaow, chuff, and they also do something called pooking. This is a loud, clear, flat call, which some people think is the tiger's attempt to mimic a type of deer that is often the tiger's prey. They think the tiger makes this sound to try to fool the deer into thinking that one of its own is close by, when really, it's a tiger in disguise.
first of all, you need to ask yourself, why is my cat crying? maybe a recent move a recent death in the family or a kitten. if you have a kitten the reason it may be crying is because it needs more attention. If there was a recent death your cat will realize that and you have to let it get over that person it may take awhile but the cat will realize that the person is gone for good. If you reccently moved your cat might be crying cause it doesn't know what's happening.Their is always the possibility that your cat is missing an object did you reccently give away or misplace one of your cat's favorite toys? If none of these seem to work then i suggest you take t to a vet.

cats have a voice box, just like we do. They feel a rumble in the back of their throat and it comes out, a it like a hum.
Translated it means "cry of the cat" and children with this syndrome make a strange cry like a cat's miaow.

A few phrases are: Pishyou na munch-munch di miaow-miaow Please do not eat the cat Hoody chuck-it-up un di jim-jams di pappa? Who has been sick in my father's pajamas? PARKA DI BOTTY, forsakes do Woden, or me do di girly boo-hoo. SIT, for Woden's sake, before I burst into tears. Mi wobblediguts bigtime. I am very poisonous.
