(land animal right?) It depends what you mean by "long distance." Lots of animals can maintain high speeds over longish periods (like the Pronghorn). When pushed (by humans) animals like horses and sled dogs can preform extraordinary feats of endurance. But as for long (marathon and up) distance in the "wild" humans would probably take the cake. So while some other animals might run a faster marathon if we made them, we're are the only ones willing to do it to ourselves.

I heard on a NOVA documentary, in which they took 8-9 different people who led sedentary life styles and got them ready for the Boston Marathon, that humans can actually run the farthest. They said that is how we evolved. We would run animals to exhaustion and then kill them. This trait, to run very long distances, was advantages so the gene was passed on. Natural selection.
