Whenever we blink, eyelids spread the tear film evenly across the eye. When triggered by something, such as shampoo, the nerves send signals to the eye to flush the substance out, so you eyes gather the tear film into the corners of your eyes, where they overflow.

A tear gland is located near the eye, in the eyelids; which produce lipid, lacrimal and mucoid layers of the tear film coating, which coats the anterior surface of the cornea.
