The bigger the better, the minimum size should be something like 40x40 cm. Most important is the tank should be ' furnished' like an aquarium since the frogs are fully aquatic.

Can a frog and toad mate?

That is generally true what badac claimed, however I've interbred the two species and there is offspring. I bred a male common toad with a female common frog, the offspring wasn't natural at all. The offspring resulted as a tadpole with tiny legs, only two survived and i released the frog, toad and frogtoads back into the wild. Conclusion- A frog and toad can mate but only in captivity, also they need to be similar e.g. treefrog toad and frog, common toad and frog.

What is the name for a frog or toads throat that swells?

They all do that. As frogs and toads don't have much of a diaphragm they use their expandable throats for the job.

Do male coqui frogs always make noise's?

Yes, the male coqui, as well as all other male frogs and toads, has a mating call, which, pretty obviously, is utilized in finding a mate. Most male frogs also have what is called a distress call. This is used if the frog is either getting eaten or if a male mistakens another male for a female and he tries to mate with him.
