Most are mangrove, but many are solid and can be explored. Still, a lot of these islands are private property with highly territorial (and armed) owners, so bear that in mind. I know that Sportsmans Island is almost entirely privately owned, but it isn't owned by one person; rather, it was broken up into lots many moons ago anticipating development that never came, so there are many individual owners.
