Wester riding is less discplined and more free. You can more likely or not tack up your horse and just ride on western without so much training. English is more formal and disciplined. If you want to look fancy riding a horse you usually ride English. Wester is used more in rodeos.
western takes just as much disapline and pose as English i know i ride and the saddles and other tack are way different and so are the events
English styles of riding predate western riding. As a result, English riding is practiced all over the world, but western riding is almost exclusive to the US and N. America.
You post in English riding because English riding is a "cleaner" type of riding where Western it is more of a leisurely ride.
The main difference is the saddle. English saddle is generally a lot lighter and has no horn. Western saddle is heavier and does have a horn. You can also walk, trot, canter, and gallop on both. Another main difference is the way you sit on it. English you have to use pressure everywhere, so it's not as comfortable for the horse. Western saddles are much more deep and much more comfortable. And Western riding is a LOT faster...TRUST ME. :D Hope this helps!
Dressage, Show jumping, eventing, cross country, enduance, ring riding, some trail riding, shows (walk trot canter class) and Gymkhana games. Many types of English! You can do English for just about anything really!!Gymkhana is western riding; it includes pole bending, barrel racing, quadrangle stakes, keyhole, and flags. There is also Saddleseat and Side Saddle too!
Oh, dude, you can technically wear western riding boots for English riding, but it's not the most ideal choice. It's like wearing flip-flops to a fancy dinner - sure, you can do it, but you might get some weird looks. English riding boots are designed specifically for that style of riding, so you'll probably be more comfortable and look more legit if you go with those.
Saddle seat is a type of English riding that involves a high-stepping horse, and the rider has his/her legs farther out in front than in most English saddles. Western is a type of riding where the saddle has a horn, and is deeper and more secure than an English saddle. Western riders do not jump.

There is western riding (gaming, western pleasure) and English riding (dressage, jumpers, hunter jumper, Polo, and English pleasure).

Western. I've been riding quite a bit and i think English on ponies is for people more advanced in riding. Then for new comers.
No. Slip-on spurs are common in English riding.
Both are very advanced, but in different ways.--------------ANSWER:Both are advanced, but the more advanced they are deppends on what type of riding you are doing like for western the main riding styles are: Western Pleasure, Barrel Racing,Trail riding is done mostly in western style, Herding, and reining would be the most popular for western. For English the main riding styles are: English Pleasure, Dressage, Jumping, Hunt Seat, Saddle seat, and Eventing.
pleasure riding is more of a pleasure of riding, western for example. horsemanship is almost like a halter show, being perfect, "prim and proper" could also be wit riding as well
Western. Western is easier, though I prefer English :)
Yes it is very possible! In fact, I am an English rider myself and that is how I started. It is highly recommended by experts. But, if you're more interested in riding for fun, go western. If you are interested in shows/cross country/ dressage then go English. The only riding difference is that you have a different posture in the styles. In English, you hold the reins with two hands. In western, just one.
There are two basic styles of riding boots for English riding. Field and dress boots. Most dressage riders use dress boots while competing.
To some degree, this will depend upon the style of riding you are doing (English or Western), the ambient temperature and your own comfort. However, you would typically wear long pants (jeans for Western, jodhpurs or riding pants for English), appropriate closed-toe riding boots (cowboy-style for Western, riding boots for English) and a short or long sleeved shirt depending upon temperature.
