The biggest living insect is generally considered to be the Acteon Beetle of South America. By weight, New Zealand's Giant Weta takes the prize. In Borneo the stick insect Pharnacia kirbyi can be a foot long and Goliath Scarabs appear to be extremely large. Fossils of dragonflys exist with two foot wingspans. The Queen Alexandra Birdwing of New Guinea sports an 11 inch wingspan, which is pretty good for a butterfly.
