A stud fee
Yea, storm Cat, a Thoroughbred stallion did command a very high stud fee, at it's peak it was $500,000.00 per breeding, but before he was popular it was lower and was at one point around $100,000.00, so yes this statement is/ was true.
It means that the owners of this particular male dog think he is good enough to be bred and he is standing at stud, meaning he is available for a fee or a pup back to breed to someone else's female.
All that should be worked out in a Stud Contract. That is a matter of your agreement with the owner of the stud dog. Things can be different if you are not the legal owner of the female. In a typical stud contract the stud owner will have pick of the litter to be selected at 6-8 weeks. You can pay for stud service and be required to surrender a puppy to the stud owner. The stud owner will need to sign the litter registration so it is necessary to keep that in mind and the female (dam) owner will have to sign also. If you are not the owner of record for the dam or the stud then you have little leverage.
a stud is a male dog or animal in breeding. if someone has a female but doesnt have a male, they can post a add saying they need a male stud. because not everyone has a female and male,so they can ask someone if they want to stud their animal. hope it helps.
A stud fee
His stud fee in 1997 was 150,000 USD
Big Brown's stud fee was just announced for $65,000
At one time it was true. Storm Cat's stud fee was reduced from $500,000 to $300,000 in 2008 when his quality of sperm was low. At one time it was true. Storm Cat's stud fee was reduced from $500,000 to $300,000 in 2008 when his quality of sperm was low.
Neither. Most horses don't have any money. The mare owner pays the stud fee. That's the whole point. They pay the stud fee and the next year they get a baby.
Big Brown currently stands at Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky and commands a $65,000 stud fee.
If I am correct, it means once you breed your mare tosomeone elses stud they say that if your mare doesn't have the foal (miscarriages or something) that you don't have to pay the fee for breeding to the stud.
