I dont know the exact memory of a common house fly, but heres a weird case that made me think about it.

I was moving a mouse on a screen of a computer and the fly kept on following it. If i put the mouse underneath the fly, it would run away, and i could chase it with the mouse. It was so infatuated, that i could poke it with a pen, and it would just fly away and come right back for the mouse. I think the common house fly has a larger memory capacity then we are lead to believe ;)
