Despite the popular myth regarding a goldfish's memory, they are actually quite intelligent little creatures and have reasonable memories.
For example, my goldfish remember that when I open the draw below the tank I am going to feed them. They also go straight to where I normally put the food. Whether this is simple environmental conditioning is arguable, however, it does show that in this one area at least they can remember things over periods of days.
Do not believe the rubbish about goldfish having short memories. They are like most creatures, they learn things by experience and training and remember them for their lifetimes. If they did not they would not survive.
