I believe that elephant would have to be the answer. Baby elephants raised by humans need to have a different caretaker sleep with them each night. If one is with them for more than that, when that person isn't there, the elephant will literally die of loneliness. Ask yourself if that would happen to a human, or a dog, or a hominid. Every time I see a baby elephant playing it brings a tear to my eye that such a sensitive creature can be so alive. It restores my faith that the universe is not such a bad place.
