The tools you need will depend on how dirty your horse is! Most daily grooming can be accomplished by using a rubber curry comb (a circular rubber tool with small rounded teeth). This is used in a circular motion on the horse's coat to work up dirt. Then use a stiff dandy brush (an oval shaped brush with synthetic or natural fibers) to brush the dirt away. A softer dandy brush can then be used for finishing. No matter how dirty your horse is you will need a hoofpick to clean out the underside of each hoof to make sure there are no rocks or dirt stuck in the hoof that would cause harm or discomfort. If your horse is extremely dirty you can bathe them with warm water and any available horse shampoo.

I would also recommend if you live in a colder climate to get a "shedding" blade to help remove the shaggy winter coat that will begin to fall out as the weather warms. This tool can also be used to remove excess water after bathing, but you should be careful and easy as this can be a sharp tool for a horse's "bony" and more sensitive regions. Also, if you live in an area with equine botflies a botfly egg comb should be purchased to remove the eggs from the hair before the horse has a chance to ingest them. Also, if you intend on showing, or just want your horse to be the best looking one on the block, a product called "show sheen" will do the trick!

To lead a horse, you have three main options. You could lead with a Rope Halter- Which applies pressure to semi-sensitive nerves on the horse's upper nostril, or you could use a Reqular Belt Buckle Halter that attaches by buckling around the under side of the head and over the horse's pole. And last but not least you have a bridle. WARNING!!!: It is not safe to TIE a horse up with a bridle attached to their mouths. If the reins were ties to a pole and a plastic bag came hurdling towards the horse, it could scare the horse into pulling back on the reins, which will allow the Bit inside their mouthes to come under the toungue and choke the horse. USE A LEAD ROPE AND HALTER!

What you use to groom a horse will vary slightly depending on if the horse is mostly clean to begin with or if it's quite dirty.
Typically most grooming sessions begin with a rubber curry comb, that is followed by a dandy (stiff) brush, and then a body (soft) brush, and a hoof pick. Other brushes can be used in-between the dandy and body brushes, these may include a medium soft/stiff brush, and a flicker brush. Another brush called a finishing brush can be used after the body brush to bring even more of a shine to the coat.
Once the brushes have been used you can also go over the coat with a sheepskin mitt or a stable rubber (cloth or towel).
For the mane and tail it is best to detangle them by hand with a little detangling oil as combs and brushes tend to break the hairs off.
Hooves can be scrubbed with a hoof brush either before or after picking them out. You can also apply hoof oil / conditioner or a polish if going to a show.
Lastly you may apply a coat polish spray and/ or fly spray.
