There are several similes in "The Spider and the Wasp" by Alexander Petrunkevitch, one of which is his comparison of a spider's inability to form a web in a new way to an inexperienced man trying to build a bridge across a cavern. Another simile occurs when he identifies the wasp with "intelligence" and the spider "instinct", labeling their conflict as "intelligence pitted against instinct".
One of the tarantula's deadliest enemies is the Pompilidae wasp, also known as the "tarantula hawk." The female wasp paralyzes the tarantula and lays eggs on it, which then hatch and feed on the still-living spider. Additionally, some birds, snakes, and mammals are also known to prey on tarantulas.
There are several species of spiders that will eat wasps, including orb-weavers, crab spiders, and jumping spiders. These spiders may actively hunt and capture wasps or feed on them if they become entangled in the spider's web.
Wasps in the family Pompilidae prey upon spiders. They don't kill the spider- they paralyze the spider, take it back to a burrow, and lay an egg in its abdomen. Then the wasp seals the burrow up. When the wasp larvae hatches from the egg, the paralyzed spider serves as a food source.
Yes. A number of different species of spider have claws as extensions of their tarsus. There are two-claw and three-claw arrangements, and some other variations on the theme.
Usually a spider wasp crawls to the trapdoor spider's hole and if manages to get inside, lays her eggs into the spider. The larvae hatch and slowly eat the trapdoor spider from inside out.

Wherever you are, you are never more than 6 feet away from a spider.
Tarantulas have very few natural enemies other than humans. Its only real natural enemy is an insect known as the spider wasp. One of the types of the spider wasp is the The Tarantula Hawk or Tarantula Killer (Pepsis wasps) giant wasp. The wasp finds the tarantula by using olfactory or the sense of smell. The wasp stings the tarantula, which paralyzes it, then the wasp lays an egg on its abdomen and then buries it in the tarantulas burrow. When the egg hatches the tarantula is used as a living food source by the wasp grub.
