Is it good for hermit crabs to foam or make bubbles?

A hermit crab who is blowing clear bubbles is a sign of the air is too humid and the humidity level should be lowered. (75-78% relative humidity) A hermit crab who blows brownish colored bubbles is normally a sign of arid conditions, low humidity levels of 65% or lower, rough handling or overheating.

Can hermit krabs live in colore d sand?

Yes Hermit Crabs can live in colored sand, some people have them live in pink sand like I did:)It is 100 percent safe to let your Hermit Crab live in colored sand:)No, they should not live in the colored sand purchased in pet stores. That colored sand, usually 'Calci-sand'isn't true sand but calcium carbonate and prolonged exposure to it by humans or pets is unhealthy. Whenwet it can harden and trap the hermit crab beneath the surface which will kill the crab. The ideal substrate for pet hermit crabs is a mixture of shredded coconut husk such as Eco Earth and clean "play sand" which can be found in some hardware stores and is used in children's sand boxes. The mixture should be dampened to "sand castle consistency", so that when you grab a handful of it, it holds it's shape but is not so wet that it is "drippy". Hermit crabs need to be able to tunnel in their substrate for protection from the elements (too hot, too cold, too dry) or to molt and they may remain in their tunnels for days or weeks at a time.

What advantages and disadvantages do hermit crab and snail provide for each other?

Advantages: With a shell, the hermit crab is safer from predators, or any other threats. It is basically more protected. The snails have less shells lying around because a hermit crab is probably constantly looking for a new one. Disadvantages: The snail's shell is heavy on the hermit crab's back, so it slows it down. A hermit crab outgrows its shell and will have to find a new one soon. The snail has no disadvantages. I hope I helped you! Sorry if this isn't what you were looking for! :)

What do hermit crabs eat and do mini hermit crabs still need to change their shells?

Sometimes it is because they outgrow the old one. They spend most of their lives looking for the perfect shell!

Are pet hermit crabs born with designs?

Hermit crabs are very plain looking; they don't ever have designs. Here's pictures of a hermit crab. http://www.thecrabbagepatch.com/crabanatomy.html When they find a shell to inhabit the shell may have a pattern, but the crabs themselves are plain.

Do hermit crabs cry?

Nobody knows due to the fact that they can hide their emotions like a champ maybe they just cry when you aren’t looking. Make sure you care about your hermit crabs so they don’t feel sad as much

What color or colors are crabs?

First of all, sand crabs are not hermit crabs. Sand crabs are usually tan, white, brownish, or other flesh-like colors. If you catch one, let it go--They need water.

Is your hermit crab a boy or a girl?

You can tell by looking underneath the third row of legs on your hermit crab. On a female Hermit crab, there are two small holes underneath the third row of legs. These holes are called "Gonopores". On a Male hermit crab there are no holes. To check-get your hermit crab out and hold it's shell up. Make sure the shell is facing towards the ceiling and the hermit crab's body is facing torwards the floor. while the hermit crab is dangling upsidown you are able to see underneath the legs where the gonopores might be. And remember: No gonopores=MALE.....gonopores=FEMALE Hope this helps! :)
