The oldest known reptile still alive today is the crocodile. It was an amphibian. There is no major development which i can recall of that allowed them to move on land as they were already capable of doing so. Maybe the origin of terrestrial animals could have led it to find more prey on the land.As according to Darwin's theory of evolution, all animals were first water-borne then came amphibians and then terrestrials and finally avians.

What is the world's most venomous land snake?

The Inland Taipan, also known as the Fierce Snake, has the most toxic venom of all the world's land snakes. The maximum survival time recorded after a Taipan's bite is not more than one hour. The Taipan has three major sub-species: the Western or Inland Taipan ( Oxyuranus Microlepidotus ) or ( Fierce Snake ) , Papuan Taipan ( Oxyuranus s. canni ) and Common or Coastal Taipan ( Oxyuranus Scutellatus ). The Inland Taipan is much more toxic than Oxyuranus Scutellatus and Oxyuranus S. Canni. The maximum yield recorded (from a single bite of Inland Taipan) is 110mg. Just a few mg of Inland Taipan's venom is enough to kill over 100 people or 250,000 mice. Australia's Western or Inland Taipan or Fierce Snake is the world's most toxic venomous snake. How did the environment shape the development of North America?

Geography played a major role in the development of agriculture in the colonies. For instance over in the northern colonies (new england) the soil was harsher and led to the development of diverse agriculture and generally smaller farms. Which allowed urban centers and towns to develop. In the South the soil was richer and allowed the planting of tobacco in large plantations, with large plantations people were spread far apart and did not allow for urbanization
