Teamwork. Lionesses are strong and fast, but they're real skill is in teamwork. One lioness will appear before a herd and begin to chase them. The terrified animals run towards the tall grass, panicked- but that's where the rest of the pride is waiting. A lioness can, with luck, bring down a zebra alone, but to bring down the bigger prey, they need to work together.

Lions, the males, are not good hunters. Their job is to guard the pride's territory and propogate the species. That's why lions hunt humans- when they get too old to reproduce, they are driven out of the pride, and, unable to hunt the larger prey they've lived on, they are reduced to hunting easier prey- man.
