This is debatable. Many hobby farmers believe it does but you seldom hear music on in a commercial barn. Commercial farmers study every possible way to increase yield yet playing music is not generally accepted as useful.
As a small operation farmer myself I have always played the radio for my chickens, while I cannot say that the birds are more content and therefore lay more eggs I do know it helps keep some of the more "intelligent" predators away. Rats and weasels don't care but the coyotes know the voices are human and they do not bother the birds at night.

Well the chicken eggs that are best for eating are the big taned ones, or the white ones. A chicken will always lay egs, but the eggs will only hatch if the chicken mates with another chicken. If the chicken doesn't mate then the eggs will never hatch, so these are the ones we eat! And my favourite way to eat eggs are fried with beans and chips! YUM YUM!
Fertilized chicken eggs are typically not sold in stores for consumption. They are more commonly used for breeding purposes, such as incubating to hatch chicks. If fertilized eggs are sold, they are usually available from specialty farms or hatcheries.

I keep country and western music on in my barn. The hens seem to enjoy it much more than the head banger stuff. I this rap scares them and classical puts them to sleep. Besides, all that music about dogs and cows and such is more interesting to the discerning hen when she is laying her eggs.

People don't really eat platypus eggs- so maybe chickens eggs have more nutrition? Also platypus eggs are only about the size of a grape so a chicken egg would probably have more nutrition because it is larger.
It is not good if your chicken is eating its own eggs but it should not effect the taste of the meat or eggs. If your chicken is eating its eggs the only way to stop it is to check for eggs more often and try to make sure you pick up the eggs as soon as possible.
