gsds are great for personal protection and are great with children , but only when the owner is a strong pack leader,if the owner is not a pack leader they will dominate everyone and are more likely to snap , but when there is an alpha leader about they will protect and guard everyonen in the household , the only problem this breed has is when there out with the owner they will usually jump up and attack random people ,this goes back to there herding days,see they would hear something in the woods and they would kill it whether it be a cat a wolf or even a man they were bred to protect the sheep herder, because the herder faced alot of dangers what with wolfs going about and men looking to steel and sell sheep that's why people say there loyal to the one master that's because they usually are (Andy Wilson member of German shephard rescue society for 23 years)
