Winter--medium to heavy weight rugs or rain sheet--keep the horse warm and dry (especially if it is clipped)
Summer---fly sheet--keep flies off or cooler--keep horse clean before show or make sure it doesn't cool off too fast after hard riding
Winter is much more important. Summer "blankets" are really used at the owner's preference and are not necessary.
Unless your horse has health issues I would advise against blankets. I tend to view them as almost abusive to the horse. Horses certainly do not need blankets in any weather and they are more of a feel good issue for owners that do not understand their horses needs.
Having said this, we have used blankets for brief periods of time when a horse has a health issue.
u should only put a blanket on during winter. later fall and early spring u can have a light blanket on. horses do grow there own winter coat that is (don't quote me on this but) 10x warmer than a blanket and you should let them grow that for a little before u put a blanket on them. also younger horses do not need a blanket they should grow there coats out.
Horses may need blankets during colder seasons such as fall and winter, particularly if they are clipped or have limited shelter. It's important to consider factors such as the horse's breed, coat thickness, and weather conditions when deciding whether to use a blanket. Always monitor your horse for signs of discomfort or overheating when using a blanket.
Horses typically need blankets during colder seasons, such as fall and winter, when temperatures drop below their comfort level. Blankets help keep them warm and maintain their body temperature. It's important to monitor the weather and your horse's condition to determine when a blanket is necessary.
If your horse shivers from the cold in the winter, you need a blanket. some horses get cold easy other don't. If you live where you don't get snow I would just let your horses grow there extra hair the natural way, but if you live where it snows you should put the blanket on.
It really depends. If you give a horse grain in the winter then yes you should in the summer but just less then you do in winter.
All seasons. Summer and Spring have storms, Winter and Fall have cold weather, there is no time a blanket isn't important.
winter
I think in the Winter.
winter
Winter I should imagine.

You should cover a horse in WINTER
I would say winter or summer I'm not so sure. Horses have winter coats, so i would say summer when all the flies start to annoy animals. If that doesn't work, put in winter. I'm positive.
You should blanket your horse in the winter months if you are located in a cold area. You can also blanket your horse on nights before a show in the winter but its mostly recommended you put the horse in an available stall.
You can put a heavy blanket on a horse in the winter to help keep the horse warm and keep dirt and mud off. Also you can keep a very lightweight blanket on the horse in the summer to keep dirt, dust, and mostly flies off your horse.
winter and fall but mostly winter
The season after summer and before winter is autumn, also known as fall. This season is characterized by cooler temperatures, colorful foliage, and harvest festivals.
