A DAM FIRSTLY ENROACHES HUGE AMOUNTS OF LAND THAT MIGHT HAVE SEVERED AS A HABITAT FOR MILLIONS OF PEOPLE,ANIMALS AND PLANTS. DAMS ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO THE EXTINCTION OF MANY FISH AND OTHER AQUATIC SPECIES.
Dams effect animals in many ways.
1) Trout and salmon going upstream to mate are blocked and only will lay their eggs where they were born.
2) The dam can effect wildlife below because of less water.
3) Constructing the dam can damage the habitat of animals as well as the environment.
Fish or anything that lives downstream or upstream of the dam. Even some animals that don't live in water are affected!! For a more specific answer go to another website, otherwise I hope I've answered your question.
Herring was the first fish to be over fished to the point of collapse of the fishery. Now many more species are affected particularly the Cod.
Identify indicator species
Commensalism is a relationship in which one species benefits. The other species not unaffected. An example would be when an animal uses a plant or tree for shelter. An American Robin benefits by making its nest in a Red Maple tree. The tree is not affected.
The population of animals in a prairie community would be negatively affected if one is over hunted because it would change the populations of the other species. This makes the ecosystem unbalanced.
Delta smelt are not being eaten. The dams California's making are sucking the fish into the grinding part of the dams and are grinding them into pieces.
The construction of the dams upstream of the Indus have affected the growth of the mangrove at the delta by reducing the water level. The dams are also putting in jeopardy the Indus river dolphin.
Constructing dams have both merits and demerits. If merits are more, then the consruction should take place
yes. both agriculture/tourism can be affected.
because they habitat for other animals and sometimes they get stoped up
Well there were several species that were affected like the herring gull and a few species of fish that came up to the surface but there was no inparticular species of fish or bird affected
Building of dams to harness water energy destroys habitat for many species, including endangered species.
Dams that force the water to change direction are what control the flow of the Nile river. These dams can bring water to areas affected by drought and are prized by the Egyptian people.
it has allowed humans to create civilizations that they wouldn't have been able to other wise.
what has the movement of the continents done to species
Horses. ( I think...)
In order to know what species would be affected by change one needs to know the type of change you are referencing.
you Scots Pine, Pinus sylvestris is affected by the pine sawfly.
