I'm no expert on pets but depending on how long ago the pet was stolen you will have more of a chence of finding it. If it was stolen a day ago you have 90% chance, 2 weeks ago, 20% chance. Try posting posters to say you pet is lost/stolen, you should put the pets name, your name, your number, a photo of pet and an address to take the pet to if found, you could put a message to the thief that it is a loved pet and that if they hand it in soon, the police won't be contacted, i don't know what the police can do but it's worth a try. You could go to the nearest pound or pet store to see if your pet has been handed in (pound for dog) you could ask neighbours if they have seen your pet.
