Lewis' dog, of the Lewis and Clark expedition, was of the Newfoundland breed. Historians differ on whether the dog was named "Seaman" or "Scannon", depending on how you read Lewis' writing. Lewis purchased him for some $20 from a riverboat captain before he left Washington D.C. The captain had won him and his mother playing cards. Seaman (or Scannon) accompanied Lewis all the way to the Pacific Ocean and returned with him to St. Louis. The Newfoundland is a big dog with a kind personality. Lewis prised the dog "much for his docility and qualifications generally for my journey." This particular breed is a working dog, especially used in the sea fishing industry. These types of dogs would pull in the fish loaded nets.
Some items Lewis and Clark brought back from their expedition include detailed maps of the territory, plant and animal specimens, Native American artifacts, newfound knowledge of geography and natural resources, and journals documenting their experiences.
There are some species of frogs, mostly living in tropical areas, that can poison you just by you touching their skin.
One of the most significant contributions of the Lewis and Clark Expedition was a better perception of the geography of the Northwest and the production of the first accurate maps of the area. During the journey, Lewis and Clark prepared approximately 140 maps. A second achievement of the expedition was a better understanding of the country's natural resources. In the end, they were able to find and categorize 122 new animals and 178 plants. Another achievement of the Lewis and Clark Expedition was that it established friendly relations with some of the Native American tribes. For the most part, encounters between the three dozen Indian tribes and the expedition were successful. They collected a variety of Indian goods and gathered information on Indian languages and culture. == ==
Lewis and Clark described the prairie dog as a "barking squirrel" during their expedition. Prairie dogs are small rodents native to North America that live in underground burrow systems called towns. They communicate with each other through a series of barks and chirps.

The Clark Shoes was first observed in the Somerset village, southwest London when in 1825 Cyrus Clark started tanning sheepskin rugs. The Clarks shoes was thus born in 1830 since his brother James Clark started making sheepskin slippers which was then termed as Clarks and the manufacturing once started in Somerset still beholds the value. Therefore, we can say that London (Somerset) is the actual manufacturer of the Clarks although some parts of China also make it.
