I was on the computer, and my cat was next to me, rubbing the computer, when suddenly he meowed really loud, and was shaking his head, and his mouth was wide open! Now, every time he tries to lick him self, after he always opens his mouth, and acts like there's something stuck into it. He can eat fine, swallow, and acts normal, except it seems as if he's not licking him self as much. He does the same thing other times, even when he's just sitting down. I give him milk every morning, does that have anything do with it? He's an outdoor and indoor cat, His best friend is the big dog next door, He sometimes climes the tree, He sleeps indoors, He Meow's ALL the time!!!..But that's normal. He can never make up his mind if he goes indoor or outdoor, Please answer me soon! I don't want him to get hurt by it, or have to worry about him, and keep an eye on him like do now! Please help soon! Thank you!

When doing short a sounds the letter a will make a sound such as in the word cat. In the word cat the a is making a short 'a' sound. To make the long a sound another vowel has to be changing or contradicting the a. Some long a words are - lake, take & make. There are many words with the long a sound that don't follow that pattern such as mail hail and hair as well as pail.
