I think it was Barbaro who survived it but then had to be put down because the vets couldn't fix the leg.
Yes, he did get euthanized, but not right away. For any of you who know, he broke his leg in the Preakness Stake race, but he was not put to sleep because of the leg. The decided he was too valuable, so they took him off the racetrack and took him right to surgery to try and fix his leg. The leg became fully healed, but after he developed laminitis in three of his hooves. That is why he was put to sleep. We will all miss you Barbaro, Rest In Peace!
