All hamsters are nocturnal. But you get the rare few hamsters who are crazy and say up during the day hehe ! But there are other pets that stay up during the day- Guiena pigs, rabbit and degus ! :D
hamsters actually do hibernate. Not in the wild but as pets yes.I have experienced a death from a hibernating hamster. You see every night me and my sister would open up our window and turn on a big huge fan and sometime forget to close the window. The hamsters cage was on my dresser which was about 5 or 6 feet away from the window. It would get to about 50 or sometime even 40-30 degrees. Hamsters are supposed to live in a climate of about 65-75 degrees. If it gets too cold your hamster will hibernate.
How can you tell? It will seem very tired, droopy, cold, wont move, almost looks dead and will be sort of floppy almost as if it had been recently killed or died. Now you may think it is dead but look closely to see if it is breathing. They should only hibernate for about 7-10 hours. A good way to try to wake it up is by warming it up slowly. I used a heating blanket that wasnt too powerful and put it on 5 or 6 the highest. Mine died on Christmas Day because he had been hibernating for several days but i heard that it is best when it wakes up you should give it a little bit of lightly sugered water and something to eat that has the texture of baby food. At least something that they can lick up. Do not force feed it. After about 1-2 hours (im not positive) the hamster should restore his strength and should no longer limp and act as if nothing had ever happened. After that, make sure to keep wherever you hamster is nice and warm. But act imedeatly because mine died for hibernating for too long.
Thanks!
If you mean out of the cage look under the refrigerator
In soft, warm places. And usually they sleep in corners with some soft things.
Hamsters don't hibernate. Well, pet hamsters don't. If you mean wild hamsters, then they might.
hamsters sleep during the day. They are notarial animals.
In little dugout underground nests that they tend to furnish with grass to make it warmer and softer.

It's just the breed. All Hamsters need to sleep for a long time. I have a teddy bear hamster, and she is actually very active. Some hamsters though, do sleep a lot. They are nocturnal, so they sleep a lot during the day
