A cow is too old to breed when:

a) Her udder has broken down so much that 1) the teats are too big for the calf to latch on to, 2) her bag is so low to the ground that she may step on it all the time, causing massive and very painful infections in her udder 3) milk productivity has decreased to the point where she is no longer able to produce enough for her calf.

b) Her teeth are too worn down (flat right against her gums) disabling her to eat and chew her food properly

c) She cannot breed back on time, within the set breeding-time schedule between 45 to 80 days

d) She calves too late, not within the 45 to 80 day calving period

e) She cannot maintain her condition on pasture alone

f) When she dies of old age.
