In speaking with my vet and going through this for my first time. The vet told me puppies can be dewormed at 2 weeks with their first shots being done at 1 month.
Parvo is very contagious to unvaccinated dogs and puppies. It is not contagious to humans.
A puppy who has survived parvo should be kept away from other puppies for at least 2 weeks to ensure they are no longer contagious and to prevent the spread of the virus to other dogs. It is important to follow your veterinarian's recommendations for when it is safe to reintroduce the puppy to other dogs.
-Nursing: maternal antibodies protect against "parvo," or Canine parvovirus type 2 -Avoiding the virus: Don't let your puppies near infected animals or the feces of infected animals. Use bleach to clean toys or surfaces that you think got infected. -Vaccination: the vaccine against parvo is awesome and you should follow your vet's instructions because timing is very important. To early and it won't work, too late and you expose your puppy unnecessarily.
Cats do not get parvo; it is a canine virus that primarily affects dogs. Cats can, however, get a similar virus called panleukopenia, which is sometimes referred to as feline parvovirus, but it is a different virus that affects cats specifically.
Parvo, is a deadly and dangerous stomach virus that usually attacks puppies more so than older or vaccinated dogs, the virus produces a foul smelling bloody diareha and vomiting .The infected puppy/dog usually die with in 48-72 due to dehydration. 80-85 percent of parvo infected puppies survive if caught in time. Parvo is not airbourne transmitted its enviromental due to contamination of feces and body fluids.Humans cannot contract parvo from dogs its just very contagious to other dogs and puppies. even with vaccinations there is a good chance your pet can contract Parvo but its less severe in most cases. Home care can be used but it takes dedication and lots of patiences to care for your pet if you cannot afford to hospitialize at the vets office, Pediolite with a syringe or teaspoon every 15 min ( same used for kids) liquid immodium ad every 4 hours and peptobismal every 4-6 hours to help relieve stomach cramps and use bleach and water to clean up any vomit and feces. Parvaid has become wildly used anti parvo meds and has seen success in treating parvo infected pets but still no guarentee of survival. Rottweillers, Dobermans, Labs, Beagals or dogs that are tan and black are more likely to contract Parvo then other breeds but still other breeds can contract parvo. To disenfect your house, use a solution 1:3 ration of water and Clorox bleach and bleach every thing or throw away items the infected puppy/dog was in contact with.Even with bleaching your house it will still be contaimanated and its best to wait 5-6 months to bring an unvaccinated puppy in the house that is under 6 months old. Disenfect your yard there is no guarentee to bleaching and even liming the yard. Lime is great to add after the bleach, best thing is to have a backhoe /bulldozer remove 4-6 inches of top soil then bleach and lime thisarea to help remove the waste products that soked in the ground. It's best not to introduce a new puppy or unvaccinated dog to the yard for 6months to a year. Parvo has been know to last up to 7 years in soil. ( this is based on my personal experience)
no, horses can't get parvo, parvo is a disease that puppies get.
Not usually.
The parvo virus is very dangerous and an infection can irreparable damage to your puppy. Talk to your doctor and make sure you give him all the booster shots to ensure that he is healthy.

Symptoms of parvo in puppies include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and loss of appetite. Unfortunately, if a puppy has died from parvo, there are no treatment options available. It is important to prevent parvo through vaccination and proper hygiene practices.
The true and cheapest product is BLEACH! Of course there is stuff on the market that will kill parvo but the best is bleach 30% to 70%. I had a rottweiler survive parvo and they had told me that she won't get it again but other puppies can get it.
No, Parvo is not a vaccine that needs to be administered yearly. The Parvo vaccine is typically given as a series of shots to puppies, with boosters given every 1-3 years depending on the veterinarian's recommendation.
yes
In two years at a vet clinic, I've seen two puppies with severe hookworm anemia that had some symptoms of parvo(bloody stool, lethargic, loss of appetite). Usually parasites don't affect them that severely though. You should get it checked out.

depending on where you go to get your shots and the age of your puppy, the first round for puppies usually doesnt have the parvo vaccine. they are able to get a parvo vaccine after they reach 6 weeks of age. and should be boosted on that monthly until the reach about 4 months old.
